Brief Biography

Ivan Rodero is currently a Research Associate at the Center for Autonomic Computing (CAC) and at The Applied Software Systems Laboratory (TASSL) lead by Prof. Manish Parashar at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey. From September 2009 to July 2011 he was a Visiting Assistant Professor of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE). He is also consultant in Open University of Catalonia (UOC) - distance learning University. He received an integrated BS and MS degree in Computer Science and Engineering in 2004 and a PhD degree in February 2009 from Technical University of Ca talonia (UPC).

Before joining Rutgers, Ivan Rodero was researcher at Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) within the Grid and Clusters group, part-time Lecturer of the Computer Architecture Department (DAC) of Technical University of Catalonia (UPC), and member of the High Performance Computing research group of DAC, where he was involved in several BSC, CEPBA-IBM Research Institute (CIRI) and EU-funded research projects.

His research interests are in the broad area of parallel and distributed computing and include high performance computing, autonomic computing, Grid computing, Cloud computing, virtualization, data analytics and green computing. His current research activities are in the extremely important area of Green Computing with a specific focus on energy-efficient High Performance Computing (GreenHPC) and virtual machine management. Specifically, his research considers application-aware approaches for both HPC-end systems and virtualized environments, including aggressive component-level power management, runtime power/energy management, and energy and thermal efficient virtual machine provisioning. His research also includes online data analytics for distributed systems (in collaboration with Xerox) and layered Cloud federation (in collaboration with IBM and FIU within the LA Grid partnership). He has published several papers in peer-reviewed journals, International conferences, book chapters and workshops. He also has served in editorial boards and as a guest editor of journals, in several committees of International conferences and workshops, and as a referee for International journals and conferences.
